Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 9 – December 12, 2018 – Myrtle Beach Speedway

Race 1 Summary – After an incident at the front of the field early in Race 1, Devon Morgan inherited the lead, but his time out front didn’t come without some series challenges. Dallas Pataska made his way forward and battled for the lead for nearly 40 laps before falling off. This left Morgan out front trying to hold off Gareth Gonder and his late charge. Again the leaders battled for a number of laps until a late caution sealed the deal for Morgan who picked up his 4th SARA win.

Race 2 Summary – In Race 2 Fred Moreau led the field to the green flag, but right from the beginning he had his hands full with Brandon Wilkinson. The two stayed separated by less than two car lengths for most of the opening 95 laps before some slight contact between the two on lap 96 opened the door for Wilkinson to take over the lead. A handful of cautions during the final 50 laps allowed Wilkinson to hold off the field for his 3rd win of the season.

Hard Chargers – Christopher Mann (Race 1, +11 pos.), Robbie Vrabel Jr. (Race 2, +8 pos.)

Pole Winner – Jacob Harberts (18.244 seconds)

Points Battle – When the Contender Series left Myrtle Beach, Brandon Wilkinson’s win kept his advantage in the points at 14 points over Devon Morgan in the standings.
