Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 9 – April 17, 2019 – Stafford Speedway

Last Wednesday night, a total of 40 Contender Series drivers took on Stafford in a pair of 150 lap races.

Race 1 Summary – Daniel Silvestri picked up the overall pole for the night, and led Race 1 to the green flag. He quickly jumped out to a solid lead during the opening 70 lap run before the first yellow, but his 3.5 second lead would be erased. A few cautions over the next 40 laps allowed Silvestri to hold onto the lead with ease. Then on the final restart on lap 113, he would get the jump out in front as the field battled behind him, and carried a 1 second gap to the finish, leading every lap for his first SARA win.

Race 2 Summary – Riley Stenjem set sail at the start of the Race 2, as it also had a 70+ lap run to start things off. However as Stenjem made his way through lapped traffic, he would get involved in the lap 72 yellow, and was later deemed responsible for the incident in post race review. So although Stenjem would eventually cross the checkered flag in first, it was the battle behind him that would determine the race winner. Jason Tarasenko made his way past Gareth Gonder on lap 90, and then pulled away from him after the final restart and was scored with his 2nd victory of the season.

Hard Chargers – Samuel Roush (Race 1, +8 pos.), Cosmin Ioanesiu (Race 2, +13 pos.)

Pole Winner – Daniel Silvestri (17.871 seconds)

Points Battle – Riley Stenjem maintained he points lead once more, and now sits atop the standings by 34 points with just two races remaining on the schedule.
