The MRD Pro Late Model Series took the track at Richmond, shortly after the Supers took their turn at the 3/4 mile speedway. 18 drivers would take their cars on track as Derek Robinson led them to the green flag after taking the pole spot. Robinson would get a good jump on the start and would inch his way into a nice lead. Robinson has been known to do well at Richmond as he had picked up the win in the last two visits to the track, and he would take two turns leading the event for a total of 40 laps. But he was unable to make it 3 in a row after he clipped the apron off of turn 2 on lap 70, essentially ending his shot.

Jarrett Lawrence would make his presence known as he would lead 15 laps in the early going, and would retake the lead on 57 for good. Lawrence would go on to win his second career PLM victory and his first of the season. The win would move him up into 3rd in the points, with the top 5 separated by just 16 points total. Robert Matthews would finish 2nd, Anthony Celantano would tie his career best SARA finish in 3rd, with Thomas Brooks and Joshua Gayman grabbing top 5’s.

Next week the MRD Series head to Iowa for another 100 laps of action.
