On Thursday night, the TUNDRA Super Sim Series presented by LOKOTOCO Designs hit the track at the Iowa Speedway for the second race of the season in the Midwest Powersource 100. 41 drivers showed up in attempt to make the field, with 30 of them taking the grid for the feature.

Race Winner – Adam Benefiel took the lead away from Zack Novak shortly after a lap 46 restart, and went on to dominate the second half of the race, winning by over 5 seconds for his 4th career SARA win.

Race Summary – An 8-can invert at the front of the field brought Ryan Matthews to the front of the grid to lead the field to the green flag, but his first laps out front would come to an end on lap 14 when Zack Novak took over the lead. Novak looked to have the race in control during the first half of the race until the race’s only caution flew on lap 41. This set up a restart that allowed Adam Benefiel to join the fight up front, and once Benefiel took the lead on lap 49, it was smooth sailing to the finish for the victory, his first in over a season.

Pole Award – Tim Bills bested the field in Time Trials, setting the pole with a lap of 22.021 seconds.

Hard Charger – Adam Benefiel won the race after gaining 11 spots from his 12th place start, while Matt Rolfe also gained 11 spots as he climbed from 25th to 14th.

Rookie of the Race – Zack Novak finished in the runner-up spot for the second straight week to take the Rookie of the Race for the second time as well.

Title Fight – Jimmy Mullis holds onto the points lead leaving Iowa, but by just 2 points over Novak.

Up Next – The TUNDRA Super Sim Series presented by LOKOTOCO Designs will go from the high banks of Iowa to The Bullring at LVMS next week with the LOKOTOCO Designs 150.
