Matthews Closes The Gap With Oxford Victory

Dreamer Racing Super Series – Super Late Models – Round 8 – April 11, 2019 – Oxford Plains Speedway

The Super Series moved on from the high banks of Bristol to take on the flat bullring of Oxford for Round 8 with the HidesPride.com 150.

Race Summary – Justin LaDuke took the invert and used it to lead the race early on, but during a green flag run as the front runners all closed the gap, LaDuke slightly slipped up to allow Ryan Matthews to make a move on the bottom to take over on lap 45. Throughout the race, Matthews wasn’t able to pull away by more than a couple car lengths over the field, holding off challenges from Dallas Pataska, and Riley Stenjem at times. But on the final restart with about 30 laps to go, Matthews was able to sneak away while the field battled behind him and went on to pick up his 2nd win of the season.

Points Battle – Christian Challiner held a comfortable 21 point lead heading into Oxford, but with just a 9th place finish, and with Matthews winning the race, that gap shrunk to just 3 points after Round 8.

HidesPride Head2Head Throwdown – Row 7 on the grid was selected at random for drivers to compete head-to-head, with Davey Riendeau (6th) finishing ahead of Ty Spearman (14th) to win the Throwdown.
