The Callaway Investments/Midwest Powersource Sportsman Series kicked off their 2017 Fall Season on Tuesday night with the Sportsman Street Stocks running a 75-lap feature event at the Myrtle Beach Speedway.

Race Winner – Conner Blaise used track position to his advantage, starting on the pole and leading all 75 laps of the caution-free race for his first career SARA victory.

Race Summary – Conner Blaise and Brandon Wilkinson started on the front row for the feature event and pulled out to the early lead, while the pack battled behind them. From 3rd to 8th, drivers were running side by side for much of the first half, allowing the leaders to continue to stretch their lead, and by the time they sorted things out, it was too late as the race would go caution free, not allowing anyone else to make up ground. One last effort by Wilkinson would see him and Blaise run side-by-side with ten laps to go for the lead, but it wasn’t enough. Blaise would lead all 75 laps on his way to the victory.

Heat Winners – For the first time in over three years, Heat Races were used to set the grid for the feature event. Both Colin Allman and Conner Blaise won from the pole in their respective heat races, while Matt Kocher would charge from 6th to win in Heat Race #3.

Hard Charger – Tim Bills made a second half charge up into the top five with potentially the fastest car late in the race but finished in 5th, while Christopher Alcares moved up from deep in the field to finis 13th, both gaining 6 spots on the night.

Title Fight – With the victory, Conner Blaise takes the early points lead and is up by just 5 points.

Up Next – Next week the Sportsman Series will switch over to the Late Model Sportsman for Week 2 with a 75-lap feature at Five Flags Speedway.
