The Sportsman Street Stock Series headed into Thompson on Wednesday night, and newcomer Spencer Prete took the pole. Prete would jump out to the lead, but the rest of the field had a hard time settling in. A total of 28 cars took the green and a lot of them were newcomers, and it showed. The race was slowed by a total of 10 cautions for 50 laps of the 75 lap event. Prete would lead the first 28 laps of the event before Matt Rolfe would take control after a restart. Rolfe would go onto lead until the final restart on lap 72. On that restart, Rolfe decided to take the outside, with Prete to his inside. As they came around turns 3 and 4, contact would be made and 2nd place Prete would jump the start before Rolfe took off, which led to Prete and two others getting penalized after reviewing the end of the race. As part of the craziness, Rolfe would get shuffled back and Vernon Margheim would come across the line in 4th place, but would inherit the win after the penalties were handed out. The win was Margheim’s first career SARA victory. Past SARA champion Chris Roberts would end up 2nd, Clay Snider finished 3rd, with Matt Rolfe and James Moss rounded out the top 5.
