Schaffer Muscles His Way To Back-To-Back Wins

Callaway Investments Sportsman Series – Street Stocks – Race 2 – May 22, 2018 – South Boston Speedway

This past Tuesday night, the Callaway Investments Sportsman Series took on SoBo for round two of the season with a 100-lap race.

Race Summary – Russell Charneski started up front and held the lead for the first 32 laps of the night until Matt Rolfe used the outside groove after a restart to his advantage to take over. Behind Rolfe, Kyle Souza and Joe Schaffer Jr. chased him down, forcing Rolfe to protect the high side. Eventually it was Schaffer that would make the move to the bottom to get by Rolfe, and held off Souza over the final 31 laps to pick up his 44th career SARA win.

Race Winner – Joe Schaffer Jr. – Qualified 1st, started 9th (invert), 31 laps led

Top Five – 2nd Kyle Souza, 3rd Matt Rolfe, 4th Cody Kelley, 5th Bill Martin

Hard Charger – Derek Robinson (+10 Positions, 22nd to 12th)

Top Rookie – Daniel Williamson (10th)

Pole Winner – Joe Schaffer Jr. (16.358 seconds)

Points Battle – Joe Schaffer’s strong start to the season with two wins puts him on top of the standings by 24 points over Tim Bills.

Up Next – Next Tuesday night the Sportsman Series heads to the Lucas Oil Raceway for 75 laps.
