On Wednesday night, the Callaway Investments Sportsman Series ran the third race of their season with a 100-lap feature event at the Southern National Motorsports Park.

Race Winner – Joe Schaffer Jr. led 72 of the 100 laps and picked up his 38th career SARA victory.

Race Summary – After three heats and a pole shuffle, Colin Allman would lead the field to the green flag. However,  Joe Schaffer Jr. got to the front after starting fourth and took the lead for the first time on lap 28. From there, Schaffer was forced to hold off Christian Challiner just after halfway, then Trevor Edwards in the final circuits. A late restart saw Schaffer jump out front and hold off Challiner to the checkered flag.

Heat Winners – Three Heat Races were used to set the field for the night, with Tim Bills, Colin Allman, and Joe Schaffer Jr. would each pick up the Heat wins.

Hard Charger – Ty Spearman had to start 22nd after crashing out of his heat race, but he was able to work his way up to finish 8th in the 100-lap feature.

Sportsman Rookie – Russell Charneski started 13th and worked his way up to 7th and was the highest finishing rookie in the race.

Title Fight – Following his third place finish, Trevor Edwards took over the points lead by four over Ty Spearman. Tim Bills is third, 13 points back.

Up Next – The Callaway Investments Sportsman Series goes from Southern National to Lanier Speedway next week, but not with the Street Stock. It will be the first of three races with the SK Modifieds, with a 125-lap feature planned as the first round of the Triple Crown Series.
