Davis Chassis Works Contender Series – Super Late Models – Round 3 – February 27, 2019 – Myrtle Beach Speedway

For Round 3 of the Contender Series, 40 drivers unloaded at Myrtle Beach and were split into a pair of 140-lap feature events.

Race 1 Summary – Riley Stenjem took the overall pole for the night, and jumped out to the early lead. During a nearly 70-lap run through the second half of the race he extended his lead out to a half-track lead, but that was erased with a lap 131 caution, setting up a short dash to the finish. But the restart didn’t matter as Stenjem quickly jumped back out in front of Samuel Roush and Sean Hatfield, and he held on to pick up his 2nd Contender win of the season.

Race 2 Summary – In Race 2, the results show a dominating win for Chris Canfield as well, but it wasn’t as easy. Throughout the race he faced multiple charges from other drivers, including Fred Moreau through the middle portion of the race. Moreau was able to nose ahead on lap 75, but couldn’t complete the pass. Canfield then held off  Justin LaDuke and Keith Medeiros before eventually pulling away to his 2nd career SARA victory.

Hard Chargers – Keith Jeffery (Race 1, +6 pos.), Davey Riendeau & Robbie Vrabel Jr. (Race 2, +12 pos. each)

Pole Winner – Riley Stenjem (17.988 seconds)

Points Battle – Leaving Myrtle Beach, Riley Stenjem controls the points lead by 15 points heading into the next race at South Boston.
