The Sportsman Street Stock Series made a trip down south on Tuesday night to Lakeland, Florida for a 75 lap event at the USA Speedway. 23 cars would qualify for the race, with Casey Kelley grabbing his 6th career pole.

When the feature event got underway, Kelley quickly jumped ahead out front into the lead. A 23 lap green flag started the race off which allowed Kelley to show his strength early as he pulled out to a sizable lead. Kevin J Myers started closing the gap some during the run, but a caution on lap 23 slowed the field down. But that was the only thing that slowed Kelley down all night as he was able to pull out to a 1.7 second lead during the 47 lap run to the finish, and went on to pick up the dominating victory. The win for Kelley, was his 3rd of the season and 4th of his career.

Behind Kelley, Myers had a clear 2nd place car as he ran in that position for most of the night, just ahead of Richard Hollyday who also ran inside the top 3 all race long and ended up finishing in 3rd on the podium. Matt Rolfe held off a few charges to hang onto a 4th place finish, while Ryan Borges couldn’t quite get by during the long green flag run after charging from his 17th starting spot, and ended up rounding out the top five in 5th.

Just outside the top five, Joe Schaffer Jr. ended up finishing in the 6th spot after running inside the top five for a majority of the race. Davey Riendeau made his first Street Stock start of the season and picked up a 7th place finish. Ian Layne had a solid 8th place finish after running inside the top ten all night long. Russell Berry started back in the 14th spot and moved into a 9th place finish, and Todd Sipe rounded out the top ten with a 10th place finish.

After his 6th place finish, Joe Schaffer Jr. continues to lead the points standings, but the gap shrunk down to just 19 points over 2nd place.
