The NEO Racing News Legends League returned to road course action tonight as they headed down to Austin, Texas to tackle the Circuit Of The Americas East course for 15 laps. 12 drivers would bring their Legend cars out on the 1.5 mile configuration as the series was making its first trip to the track, and things would get started with open qualifying to set the grid.

As all of the cars rolled out on to the track for qualifying, it wouldn’t take long for Mike Rhyno to jump to the top of the charts, but later in the session he would be knocked off the top spot by David Krikorian who ran a time of 54.873 seconds.

At the drop of the green, Krikorian got the jump from the standing start and he would begin to set sail and pull away from the field. Behind him it was Brian Tedeschi and Rhyno battling hard for the second spot. Rhino’s #33 car would stay close to the back bumper throughout the early laps, and the two drivers would even make contact on lap as they continued to fight for the spot. Joshua Kotten and Clay Snider weren’t too far behind them and were just waiting for something to happen so they could capitalize.

Back further in the pack, Matt Rolfe was getting pressure from behind by Patrick Hahe and as they came to the line side-by-side, they would continue to run that way for the next lap and a half as they sliced and diced through the corners next to each other. Hahe would slide through the first corner on the next lap allowing Rolfe to get beside him and drive on by for the 6th spot. Back up towards the front, Tedeschi had been running in the 2nd spot all race long until a spin in the final corner of lap 11 would end his night early.

At the front of the field though, it was all Krikorian as he would lead from green to checker and he would come around to pick up his first career SARA victory by more than 14 seconds on the field. Behind him, Rhyno moved up into second, while Kotten, Snider, and Rolfe would all come around to finish out the top 5. Kotten was able to gain 3 points on the night, but still trails Clay Snider by 19 points heading into the next race.
