The Sportsman Street Stock Series headed into the tight short track of South Boston for a 75 lap shootout. The racing would be close and the passing would be tough.

Matt Rolfe picked up the pole position, beating out second place qualifier David Fields but just 1 tenth of a second. Rolfe would get the jump on the drop of the green, but every time after a restart, Fields would settle in and work his way back up to the back bumper of the leader.

There was a total of 6 cautions on the night, and each one would see Fields trying to hold onto his second position from a number of other drivers such as Clay Snider, Mike Belanger, Joseph Theis, and on the final restart, Ronald Williams.

Fields would hold off Williams from the outside, and the two of them tracked down Rolfe in the closing laps, pulling up to his rear bumper. But with just 2 laps to go, the caution would come out for the last time, letting Rolfe pace the rest of the field for the final two laps.

This was Rolfe’s first street stock victory of the season, Fields and Williams both finished on the podium, with Mike Belanger and Scott Dunlap rounding out the top 5. With his 2nd place finish, and Snider finishing in 6th, Fields would take over the points lead by just 2 points.
