The NEO Racing News Legends League started off the Summer Season at the Daytona Short Road Course tonight, with Travis Warling picking right back up where he left off last season. Last season this very race got postponed to the last night of the season, and Warling went on to dominate the race, and tonight would be no different as he would start off with the same results.

Warling picked up the pole for the night with a lap time of 44.679 seconds on the Short road course, nearly half a second faster than second place qualifier Huston Hamer. 14 Legends would start the event, and in the early laps Warling would start to pull away as the field settled in behind him. Hamer and Ronald Williams would settle into the top 3 spots, but behind them there was plenty of movement throughout the field.

The race’s early mover would be Patrick Hahe as he moved up to 4th by half way from his 7th starting spot, but he would find trouble heading through the fast sweeping last corners dropping him to a poor finish on the night. Charles Denny also made movement towards the front as he worked his way up to 7th from his 13th place start.

But back up front, no one would have anything for Warling as he cruised on to pick up the season opening win, his 4th career SARA victory in just 6 total starts. Williams would keep Hamer in his sights most of the night, but Hamer would hang on for the second spot with Williams finishing 3rd. Joshua Kotten would work back up to 4th with Clay Snider rounding out the top 5.
