Last night, the Dirt Open Wheel Series ran it’s first Midget race at the Limaland Motorsports Park for a 50 lap feature event

Race Winner – Keith Jeffery slipped by an incident at the front of the field and then hung on to pick up his first career SARA victory.

Race Summary – Ben Nile, David Krikorian, and Keith Jeffery all led laps early in the race before points leader Dave Bodio made his charge to the top spot by halfway. Bodio looked to have things on cruise control as he began pulling away from the rest of the field. However on lap 41 that all changed when Bodio nearly lost it in turn three, and in the process collected Zack Passen who was running 2nd, while Jeffery and Greg Netherwood slipped by into the lead. After the final restart, despite multiple challenges from Netherwood, Jeffery was able to hold on out front and came around to pick up the win.

Heat Winners – Josh Kotten and Greg Netherwood both picked up Heat Race wins.

Hard Charger – Clay Snider came from the 12th position after issues in his Heat Race, to climb back up for a 5th place finish, gaining 7 spots on the night.

Title Fight – With both Dave Bodio and Derek Robinson having issues on the night, the points gap remains at just 11 points heading into next week’s season finale.

Up Next – The Midgets finish off their season next Monday night at Lanier, to crown their 2018 Spring Season champion.
