Bodio Pounces Late For Magic Mile Victory

On Monday night, the Dunleavy’s Modified Series visited the New Hampshire Motor Speedway for a 75-lap feature, and the night got started with Dave Bodio snagging the pole away from Joe Schaffer Jr. by just .001 seconds for Bodio’s 2nd career SARA pole. After a 7-car invert, Trevor Edwards started up front and led the opening 9 laps before Bill Martin worked his way underneath him for the lead. For most of the night, it looked like Martin had the car to beat, even pulling away from the cars drafting behind him and he looked to be on his way to victory until a caution in the late stages of the race set up a 10-lap run to the finish. Martin jumped out ahead on the restart but Bodio was on the charge and on lap 70 he attempted a slide job on Martin for the lead, slid sideways up in front of him, and after a little bit of contact, Bodio came out of turn two with the lead. A caution with a couple laps to go would end the night under yellow, giving Bodio his 2nd win of the season and his 2nd career SARA victory.

Martin’s 2nd place finish keeps him solidly up in the points lead by 37 points heading into next week’s race at Lucas Oil where Martin should be the favorite to win.

Pole Award – Dave Bodio – 29.992 seconds
Hard Charger – Tyler Simmons and Jason Stewart (+6)
Rookie of the Race – 4th Place – Keith Jeffery
