Callaway Investments Modified Series – Tour Modifieds – Round 8 – Nov. 6, 2018 – New Smyrna Speedway

Before the Fall Brawl, the Tour Modifieds took on New Smyrna for 100 laps under the lights in Round 8 of their season.

Race Summary – Ryan Doucette benefitted from the 9-car invert to start up front and used it to his full advantage. In the early laps of the race, the rest of the top three were able to follow him within a couple car lengths, not allowing Doucette to pull away. The first challenge for the lead came from Ty Majeski who restarted to the outside of Doucette on the lap 37 restart. Majeski got the nose ahead, but as he pinched down off of the corner, there would be contact which sent Majeski around in front of the field, while Doucette continued on. For the remainder of the race, Doucette faced a little bit of pressure from behind, but was able to hold off the field and went on to lead every lap to pick up his first Modified victory.

Race Winner – Ryan Doucette – Qualified 9th, started 1st (9-car invert), 100 laps led

Top Five – 2nd Kyle Odaynik, 3rd Keith Jeffery, 4th Matt Rolfe, 5th Conner Blaise

Hard Charger – Kyle Odaynik (+15 positions, 17th to 2nd)

Pole Winner – Ty Majeski – 15.518 seconds – new track record

Points Battle – After New Smyrna, and after two drop races were taken out of the points, Conner Blaise holds a comfortable 40 point lead in the standings.
