The Late Models took back over the Callaway Investments/Midwest Powersource Sportsman Series on Tuesday night for a 100-lap feature at Southern National.

Race Winner – Joe Schaffer Jr. took full advantage of the Pole Shuffle that put him on the pole for the feature, and he went on to lead all 100 laps for his 35th career SARA victory.

Race Summary – Joe Schaffer Jr. jumped into the early lead while the field settled during the opening laps. As the race looked like it might go green for a while, Schaffer began stretching his lead which was up over two seconds by the halfway point in the race. But that was until Tim Bills began to catch the leader over the final 50 laps as the race would go caution free. Bills charged and reached the back bumper of Schaffer with a handful of laps to go, but slipped up on the final lap, allowing Schaffer to drive off to take the checkered flag.

Heat Winners – Scott Eckrich went from last to first to win Heat Race 1, while Trevor Edwards won from the pole in Heat Race 2.

Hard Charger – Conner Blaise blew an engine in his Heat Race, forcing him to start out back but he gained 9 spots on the night to finish in 10th.

LM Title Fight – Tim Bills’ second place finish keeps him at the top of the Late Model standings to go with his win in the first race.

Combined Title Fight – Bills also continues to lead the combined points standings and stretches the lead up to 29 points over second place.

Up Next – The series will return in two weeks after an off-week, where the Street Stocks will take on Irwindale for 75 laps.
