Benefiel Picks Right Strategy In Milwaukee Mile Win

Last Thursday night, The Button Box Shop Super Series made it’s seasonal trip to The Milwaukee Mile for a 100-lap feature event. 36 cars would attempt to qualify, for the 30-car starting grid.

Race Winner – The first tire event of the season opened up a few different strategies on the night. Christian Challiner led at a caution around the halfway point of the race but went down pit road for his tires, leaving Adam Benefiel as the leader up until he went down pit road on lap 67. Joe Schaffer Jr. took over the race lead after already pitting and working his way forward, but as the laps would down and with the help of a couple cautions, Benefiel was able to charge back up and took over the lead after the lap 85 restart, and went on to pick up his 2nd victory of the season, leading 55 laps on the night.

Pole Award – Derek Holzhausen picked up his 3rd pole of the season, and the 16th of his career with a lap of 28.495 seconds.

Hard Charger – Matt Vaade had to wait on a provisional, which reverted back to his lap time to make the field, and was able to climb from his 29th place starting spot to finish 10th on the night.

Rookie of the Race – Adam Benefiel’s 2nd victory of the season also puts him as the top Rookie of the Race. Christian Pedersen leads Christian Challiner by 1 point, and Benefiel by just 4 points in the Rookie Standings.

Title Fight – Christian Pedersen quietly rebounded up for another top five finish after pitting early for damage, and maintains his points lead over Challiner by just 6 points heading into this week’s race at Oxford.
