On Thursday night, The Button Box Shop Super Series traveled north to Maine for the HidesPride.com 150 at the Oxford Plains Speedway. David Krikorian picked up his 2nd Dean’s Satellite & Security Pole Award of the season with a lap of 14.785 seconds, before a 9-car invert dropped him into the pack.
At the drop of the green flag, Matt Kocher led the field to get the race under way. During the first long green flag of the race, the outside groove started to develop and Matt Rolfe pulled to the outside of Kocher on lap 33 and Rolfe would take over the lead. After a lap 60 restart, Rolfe tried to work back up to the outside but the inside was the place to be. Kocher drove up the inside to retake the lead before sliding back up as well, leaving the door back open for Rolfe to battle back on the inside as the two drivers swapped the lead. Rolfe eventually gained the advantage while Kocher slipped back.
The final restart of the race set up a 33-lap run to the finish. Rolfe got the jump out in front, but the track began to slick off and cars were searching for grip, including the leader. Josh Berry worked his way up to 2nd, and as the laps wound down he would begin to put the pressure on for the lead. On lap 133, Rolfe would slip up, leaving the door open for Berry to get to the inside. Berry would take over the lead, and held off Kocher for the final 17 laps, and Berry would go on to pick up the victory. The win for Berry was his 2nd win of the season and his 4th career SARA victory.
Richie Davidowitz entered the night as the points leader in a tight battle at the top of the standings with Matt Rolfe and Derek Robinson right on his heels. Davidowitz finished the night on the podium in 3rd, but his points lead remained at just 3 points over Rolfe as the series heads to The Bullring at LVMS next week.
