Sim Marketing Solutions Super Series – Super Late Models – Race 11 – August 9, 2018 – Martinsville Speedway

Last Thursday night the Super Series visited Martinsville for a 150 lap battle at the paperclip for the running of the Lokotoco Designs 150.

Race Summary – At the drop of the green flag, Ryan Matthews used the outside lane to gain the advantage over Ty Spearman to lead lap 1. He would hold the lead until lap 46 when Jim Caudill Jr. drove around on the high side to make the pass, and then Caudill attempted to set sail up front. In the second half of the race, Caudill was joined by the rest of The Big Three including Jimmy Mullis and Joe Schaffer Jr., but they weren’t able to make a move and Caudill would hold them off to pick up his 4th win of the season.

Race Winner – Jim Caudill Jr. – Qualified 6th, started 4th (invert), 105 laps led, 6th career win

Top Five – 2nd Jimmy Mullis, 3rd Joe Schaffer Jr., 4th David Krikorian, 5th Camaron Hamilton

Hard Charger – Scott Dunlap & AJ Rogers (+9 positions gained)

Pole Winner – Bill Martin (19.627 seconds)

Points Battle – Despite Caudill picking up the win, Joe Schaffer Jr will enter the final race of the season with a 13 point lead. While Caudill is still mathematically eligible to take the title it will take a perfect night from him, and an off-night from Schaffer in order for a swap atop the standings.

HidesPride Head2Head Throwdown – Row 1 on the grid was selected at random for drivers to compete head-to-head, with Ryan Matthews (7th) finishing ahead of Ty Spearman (17th) to win the Throwdown.

Up Next – This week the Super Series will wrap up the 2018 Summer Season with a 200-lap Throwback race at Lanier.
