Matthews Beats Stacked Field In Super Series Opener

Sim Marketing Solutions Super Series – Super Late Models – Race 1 – May 17, 2018 – USA International Speedway

The opening week of the 2018 Summer Season continued last Thursday night as 42 of the best short trackers on iRacing headed to USA for Race 1 of the Sim Marketing Solutions Super Series, with 30 of those drivers making the field for the Dynamic Autosports 125.

Race Summary – Ryan Matthews benefitted from a six-car invert to start up front and took full advantage of that. Matthews held off multiple charges by Jim Caudill Jr. during the first half of the race before Joe Schaffer Jr. moved up into the runner-up position. During the final 50 laps, Matthews was able to do the same to Schaffer, holding him off down the stretch and was able to lead all 125 laps on the night to pick up his 2nd career SARA victory.

Race Winner – Ryan Matthews – Qualified 6th, started 1st (invert), 125 laps led

Top Five – 2nd Joe Schaffer Jr., 3rd Jimmy Mullis, 4th Dallas Pataska, 5th Zack Novak

Hard Charger – Trevor Edwards (+19 Positions, 27th to 8th)

Top Rookie – Ryan Doucette (12th)

Pole Winner – Joe Schaffer Jr. (19.405 seconds – New Track Record)

HidesPride Head2Head Throwdown – Row 10 on the grid was selected at random for drivers to compete head-to-head, with Justin Trombley (24th) finishing ahead of Drew Kreibich (28th) to win the Throwdown.

Up Next – Next Thursday night the Super Series will head to the Stafford Motor Speedway for the Midwest Powersource 150.
