Last night, the Sprint Series with the 360 Non-Wing Sprint cars began a new era within SARA, as the first official dirt race in league history took place in the Eldora Summer Kickoff event.

Race Winner – David Krikorian started out front after the Pole Shuffle, but a mistake in turn one allowed Darrell Hamlin to go from 3rd to 1st in the opening lap. Hamlin would go on to lead all 40 laps of the event, holding off Krikorian late in the race, for his first career dirt win, and 2nd career SARA victory.

Heat Winners – Ty Spearman moved up from 2nd to win Heat Race number 1, while David Krikorian jumped up from 3rd to win Heat Race 2.

Hard Chargers – Derek Robinson and Travis Warling both started outside the top ten and were battling inside the top five late in the race to finish 3rd and 4th, respectively, while Scott Dunlap worked his way forward to an 11th place finish. Each driver gained 7 spots during the race.

Biggest Loser – Matt Rolfe started 2nd on the night after the Pole Shuffle, but dropped back a few spots in the opening laps before getting caught up in a pair of incidents that dropped him out of the race early for a 17th place finish.

Title Fight – Darrell Hamlin will leave Week 1 with the points lead, but with random heat race lineups each week, things will surely get shuffled up in the standings throughout the season.
