On Monday night, the Callaway Investments Sportsman Series put on a show in a 100-lap race at Southern National. The race saw 11 lead changes among 5 different leaders and included plenty of side-by-side action throughout the pack.

Race Winner – For the first half of the race, it was Kyle Souza who was battling for the top spot, trading the lead with Matt Rolfe and Bill Martin at the front of the field. However after being inverted back to 8th at the start of the race, Tim Bills was making a charge and joined the battle by halfway. Bills would get by Souza to take over the top spot on lap 56, and then used a 39-lap run to the finish to pull away out front while the pack battled behind him. Bills would end up leading 44 laps on the night on his way to his 3rd win of the season, and his 22nd career SARA victory.

Pole Award – Tim Bills added his 3rd pole of the season as well which was also his 40th career SARA pole, with a lap of 15.541 seconds.

Rookie of the Race – Kyle Souza impressed at Southern National leading 23 laps while fighting a loose handling car and ran 2nd late in the race before slipping to finish 4th on the final lap as the top Rookie.

Title Fight – The win for Bills extends his points lead up over 20 points after 8 races this season. However one slight mistake or poor finish for Bills could allow Matt Rolfe and Joe Schaffer Jr. to jump back into contention for the title, as they sit just 21 and 23 points back, respectively.

Up Next – Next week the series will make it’s second and final visit to a dirt track this season as they will take on the Volusia Speedway Park for a 75-lap feature.
