Krikorian Scores First Dirt Street Stock Win At Eldora

The Callaway Investments Sportsman Series ran it’s first ever dirt race on Monday night as the series took on the Eldora Speedway for a 75-lap feature event.

Race Winner – Early in the race it was Windell Stratton that controlled things out front until David Krikorian joined the party and the two drivers would begin to battle it out, throwing sliders back and forth. This allowed Matt Rolfe to catch up to make it a three-man fight, but some contact amongst the leaders would allow Krikorian to sneak through into the lead. Krikorian went on to lead the final 37 laps on his way to picking up the victory.

Heat Winners – Heat Races were used to set the field for the dirt event, and Matt Rolfe took the Heat 1 win away from Derek Robinson in the closing laps, and in Heat 2 it was Conner Blaise that snuck around the outside of Adam Benefiel to take the win.

Hard Charger – Kyle Souza started back in the 15th spot, and gained 10 spots on the night to finish in the top five.

Rookie of the Race – Beau Brannon made his first career league start and finished on the podium with a 3rd place run.

Title Fight – Matt Rolfe took over the top spot in the points after Eldora, but with drop races being factored into the standings at the end of the week, it could shake things up heading into the second half of the season.
