On Tuesday night the Callaway Investments/Midwest Powersource Sportsman Series ran a 75-lap Street Stock feature event at Irwindale.

Race Winner – James Mihlbachler held off Cody Kelley by just .042 seconds to pick up his first career SARA victory, in the 5th closest finish in SARA history.

Race Summary – Mihlbachler started on pole for the race after the Pole Shuffle handicap and led the field to the green flag, but spent much of the race playing defense. Tim Bills was putting the pressure on early in the race and looked to the bottom side multiple times, but Mihlbachler held the advantage in the outside groove. Cody Kelley moved up to 2nd on lap 45 and attempted to get by multiple times as well, including one last effort on the final lap, but came up just .042 seconds short and Milhbachler crossed the line ahead by a nose for the victory.

Heat Winners – Tim Bills and Cody Kelley both worked their forward in their respective Heat Races to pick up the Heat wins.

Hard Charger – Joe Schaffer Jr. started back in the 12th position and steadily worked his way forward for a top five finish, gaining 7 spots.

SS Title Fight – A podium finish for Tim Bills keeps him atop the Street Stock standings by just 5 points over Joe Schaffer Jr.

Combined Title Fight – Bills also maintains the overall combined Sportsman points lead and extends it up to 37 points.

Up Next – Next week the Late Model Sportsman will head to the Las Vegas Bullring for double 50 lap features.
