Rolfe Gets Home Track Win At Oxford

Image

Last night the Callaway Investments Sportsman Series traveled up north to Oxford, Maine for a 100-lap feature at the Oxford Plains Speedway to kick off Week 3 of the season.

Race Winner – For much of the race it looked as if Trevor Edwards had the race in control as he led 70 laps on the night, but as the laps began to wind down, he faced pressure from Matt Rolfe for the top spot. After slight contact Edwards would slip up and the door stayed open for Rolfe to slip by on the inside to take over, and Rolfe would go on to lead the final 17 laps on his way to his 25th career SARA victory.

Pole Award – Tim Bills added his 37th career pole with a lap of 16.654 seconds.

Hard Chargers – Christian Pedersen, Paul Fugate, and Bruce Wright all qualified outside of the invert, but were each able to gain a couple spots on the night.

Rookie of the Race – Seth DeMerchant had a solid night, being inverted to the pole and leading the opening 13 laps before slipping back and recovering for a top five finish.

Title Fight – Tim Bills picked up another top five and continues to lead at the top of the standings over Trevor Edwards by just 7 points heading into next week’s race at Michigan.
