Callaway Investments Sportsman Series – Street Stocks – Race 1 – May 15, 2018 – Five Flags Speedway
The 2018 Summer Season for the Sportsman Series got started with 22 Street Stocks taking on the Five Flags Speedway for a 100-lap feature event.
Race Summary – Ian Layne led the field to the green, but it was Tim Bills and Joe Schaffer Jr. who charged to the front of the field. Bills led for 14 laps before Schaffer got by on lap 35, and from there Schaffer held off Bills over the final 66 laps to pick up the season opening win, for his 43rd career SARA victory.
Race Winner – Joe Schaffer Jr. – Qualified 1st, started 8th (invert), 66 laps led
Top Five – 2nd Tim Bills, 3rd Casey Kelley, 4th Brandon Wilkinson, 5th Ian Layne
Hard Charger – Brandon Johnson (+6 Positions, 13th to 7th)
Top Rookie – TJ White (9th)
Pole Winner – Joe Schaffer Jr. (18.309 seconds)
